Phindy Photo Walk – Downtown Nashville

nashville photo walk

Hey everyone, Mindy and I have been throwing around the idea of putting together a casual photo walk for a while now but haven’t been able to find the time. Well, now that we have most of our busy fall season behind us it’s time to get out and shoot for fun!

If you are wondering what a photo walk is, it’s simple. A bunch of photographers get together, walk around and take photos! Photo walks are great for learning and getting outside of your comfort zone. It’s always fun to see how other photographers approach things and you always learn a ton.

Our photo walk will start about an hour before sunset and end with some sweet night photography. If you’ve never tried nighttime photography, don’t worry, we’ll be on-hand to help you get started and answer any questions. The route will be a leisurely jaunt through downtown. We’ll meet up at printers alley and end across the walking bridge for some fun cityscapes at night. You can check out the map below for more details.

We want to encourage ANYONE and EVERYONE to join us on this little outing! It’s not just for pro’s! We’ve had a ton of past clients that have purchased SLR’s and enjoy photography. If you’re one of them, we hope to see you out there. Mindy and I will be on hand to answer any questions you can come up with so this will be a great opportunity for you to pick up some new tricks. If you are a pro, we’ll be happy to answer any questions you might have as well!

We’ll also all probably head somewhere afterwards for dinner and/or drinks, so leave your suggestions in the comments! Hope to see you ALL there.

Google Analytics Tutorial for Photographers

For those of you who are photographers or small business owners, I thought I would share a video tutorial I made a few weeks ago for the Pictage blog. It quickly outlines how to install and use Google Analytics, a super powerful (and free) tool from Google. If you aren’t checking your website’s stats you are missing a big opportunity to grow your business. Check out the video and let me know what you think!

SEO / Social Media Secrets Intensive

What do your 2011 business resolutions look like?

It’s been well over a year since my last SEO Workshop and boy have things changed. Google is a completely different company and uses a completely different algorithm since the last time I had the opportunity to give this workshop. Things have changed so much that I have decided to take a slightly different approach. From the beginning I have had one goal for these workshops and seminars: let the attendee walk out with some actionable intel. That is military speak for “information that you can actually do something with”. I am anti-fluff, anti-ego, and pro-results. I’ve been spending a lot of time looking at where our inquires are coming from and to say that SEO is the only thing that does that is shortsighted. So this year I am adding a social media aspect to the workshop to make sure you guys are looking at the big picture when it comes to your business and the web. We will look at the time wasters and the money makers (we all know that there are far more time wasters than money makers in social media)! You will learn to track “conversions” not just “traffic”. You will learn how to develop your brand online and how to create true fans on the internet.

Of course, you will also walk away with an incredibly strong SEO strategy that will get you the rankings you want. With the right strategy, information, and some work, anyone can see huge jumps in their Google ranking. We will talk about the single biggest thing you need to be doing daily to increase your rankings. We will also learn what disastrous “SEO Tricks” actuallyhurt your rankings and should be avoided at all cost.

If you are ready to stop paying hundreds or thousands for “click-through” advertising or online listings and want to develop your own traffic sources and inquires, this one day intensive is for you. The price is the same as last year, I try to keep it accessible to as many people as possible at $200. The date has been set for February 16th and will be located at Phindy Studios. We will also be having drawings for some great discounts and prizes from our sponsor, liveBooks (the best web developers for photographers, designers and other creative professionals.) Due to the venue for this workshop we have a limited number of spaces available so please act fast if you are interested. Last year sold out pretty quickly. Register here or click the banner below.

*New this year: Since it’s 2011, which is basically “The Future”, we will be offering this seminar via Streaming Video as well to our out of state friends who want to get the goods but save some travel money! It’s the green thing to do!:)If you are interested in viewing the streaming seminar, Register normally and just let me know via email!

Here are a few shots from the speaker session I did on SEO for photographers last November in New Orleans at  Pictage’s PartnerCon.

Pictage PartnerCon New Orleans

This post goes out to all of our photographer friends! As many of you know we are huge fans of PartnerCon.  If you have talked “business” with us for any amount of time, we’ve probably told you all about this great convention.  In case you haven’t heard about it, we thought this post was in order!   Last year we had a great time meeting new people and learning tons of useful information.   This year PartnerCon is returning to New Orleans, one of the greatest cities on earth! If you haven’t already registered, there is still time.   Jump on over to the PartnerCon Website and sign up.  You won’t regret it!

This year we are very excited to announce that Phil has been selected as one of the speakers!  Phil will be speaking on the topic of SEO and positioning your website for your market, but that is just one of the many great topics that will be covered this year. Besides the valuable information you will receive,  you can count on making some lasting friendships and meeting some like minded photographers…we know we have!

We can’t wait to see everyone there. If you see us be sure to say hi and introduce yourself if we haven’t met face to face!
